About Kelsey Dunlap
Kelsey Dunlap has been studying and riding horses for over a decade. Because she was homeschooled, she was able to spend an abnormally large amount of time educating herself in all things equestrian and perfecting her skills. She started as a member of the United States Pony Club, and quickly rated up through the levels. She is a “B” graduate. As a teenager, she traveled and studied under the tutelage of mentors Dr. Stacy Thacker Anderson, Marcia Kulak, and Margie Hutchison. She devoured every book, magazine, and video she could in the days before YouTube, and has a special appreciation for YouTube-learning today.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in record time, all while continuing to build her equestrian business out of her parents’ farm.
Kelsey has successfully competed through Preliminary level eventing and Grand Prix dressage. She is a USDF Silver, Bronze, and Gold medalist.
She has had wonderful experiences working for and learning from top trainers including Bo Jena, Sarah Geikie, Chris Hickey, Jen Baumert, Janet Foy, Janet Black, Becky Langwost, and Bonnie Mosser. She was a Large Tour demo rider at the Symposium – Dressage Through the Levels in May, 2015.
She currently works for Grand Prix dressage trainer Diane Ritz at Hidden Spring Farm in Monroe, NC and trains horses and coaches students at and around her farm near Indian Trail, NC.
As a lifelong learner, Kelsey is passionate about continuing her own education, and attends as many clinics and lessons as she can. She enjoys traveling, playing games, and meeting new people. She’s a budding artist, a violinist, and lover of dogs and birds.
Kelsey keeps her horses and works out of Peace N Peas Farm, located just east of Charlotte, North Carolina. It has a six stall barn with a lighted arena and mirrors, and grassy pastures with the obligatory farm animals. A peaceful setting, and never dull.
